An apostille from the Secretary of State begins at $26. To receive an apostille, please visit the Secretary of State Office (SOS) at 1500 11th Street, 2nd Floor Sacramento, CA 95814, once your document is notarized. You may also visit their website at http://www.sos.ca.gov/notary/
You may also print this form to service you quickly at the SOS office.
Copies of Birth, Death or Marriage records.
In the State of California a Notary cannot notarize the copy itself. However, I can notarize a Copy Certification of Document Custodian form. Give me a call and we can discuss the details. This form certifies that the copy is a true copy of the original. The original must be presented along with the copy or we can make the copy together.

POLICE CLEARANCES
If you are submitting this document to an Embassy/Consulate, the document must be notarized with the correct CA notary language and authenticated by the Secretary of State before submission. If the letter written by the police department does not include the correct notary language on the same page, you take the risk of it being refused by the Embassy. CA Notaries are not authorized to place a seal on ANY document without the correct CA notary language.

BIRTH-PARENT RELINQUISHMENT (ADOPTION)
California Notaries who are not qualified and bonded as immigration consultants under the Business and Professions Code Sections 22440-22449, may not complete or make the certification on Form I-9, even in a non-notarial capacity. The Secretary’s office considers Form I-9 to be an immigration form. Any California Notary who is not an immigration consultant violates Government Code Section 8223(c).
